Stay in the comforts of one of the cutest small towns in North Carolina while going on day trips into the Blue Ridge Mountains. Morganton is in the foothills of North Carolina and you get scenic view of Grandfather mountain and Table Rock mountain from throughout the city. Within 30 minutes you can be in the mountains and within 1 hour you can be in Asheville or Boone.
The Carriage House has been lovingly restored with an eye for recycling and repurposing as many original features as possible. A re-engineered roof allows for rustic exposed beams - and under the new metal roof a layer of insulation regulates the temperature. Original cabinet and sink layout have a cottage feel and the small stove and dishwasher allow ease of cooking while on your trip.
When you enter the carriage house the former garage bays are entered through French doors to the converted large bedroom with gas logs, desk, laundry room, and half bathroom. Continue upstairs for the full bath including original claw foot tub & trough sink. The kitchen/living/dining area feels open and yet cozy with exposed beams. One of our family favorites is to string up our hammocks from the beams and enjoy a rainy day, or do aerial yoga :) The sofa bed pulls out into a full bed and there is plenty of floor space for cots or pack n plays.
Pets are welcome but require an extra $50 cleaning fee.
The 1100 square foot carriage house is accessible to guests. Parking is available on site and a private fenced area is available with a fire pit.
The Carriage House is on the edge of the central business district of Morganton. You can walk 1 block to get to Food Matters - the local health food store. Breweries, restaurants and shopping are also an easy walk from the house. Downtown Morganton embodies the classic small town feel with enough night life for you to get out.
Dogs are welcome for an additional $50 cleaning fee (maximum of two). Please bring a comfortable bed for them to sleep on. Pets are not to be on the furniture. Please do not leave them unattended. Thanks for your understanding.
